Privacy Policy

Who we are

GradSail is an independent student project that helps college students track credits, grades and degree requirements. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or run by any university, and we do not share your information with your school. This policy covers the GradSail website at gradsail.com.

What we collect

If you create an account, we store:

• Your email address and password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and stored in scrambled (hashed) form. We can never see it.
• Your profile: your school and your year (for example, "Sophomore"). If your school isn't listed, the school name you type.
• Your plan: the courses you add (course number and name, credits, term, status, grade, whether it was taken at your school, abroad or as transfer credit, the abroad school's name and approval status), your majors and minors, and your next registration date and time.

If you use the planner without an account, your plan is saved only in your own web browser on your device. It is never sent to us.

We do not ask for your student ID, date of birth, address, phone number or payment information.

How we use it

• To save your plan and show it to you when you sign in, on any device.
• To calculate your credits, GPA and graduation checks. These calculations happen in your browser.
• To send emails you ask for: confirming your account and resetting your password.

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers below, who store or deliver it for us.

Service providers

• Supabase stores account data and plans, and sends sign-in emails.
• Cloudflare hosts the website. Like most web hosts, it may keep basic technical logs such as IP addresses for security.
• Google Fonts and jsDelivr deliver the site's fonts and sign-in code. Your browser contacts them when the page loads, which shares your IP address with them.

The website does not currently send your data to any AI service. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't use analytics. The site uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, to save guest plans, and to remember small preferences. Clearing your browser's site data removes these.

Who can see your data

Each account's data is locked so that only that signed-in account can read or change it. Connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS). The site's operator can access the database only to maintain the service, fix problems, or respond to a request from you. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

How long we keep it

We keep your data until you delete it or delete your account. When you delete your account, your account and everything in your plan are permanently removed from our database right away.

Your choices

• See and change your data: everything you've entered is visible and editable in the planner.
• Download your data: use Download my data at the top of the planner.
• Delete your account: use Delete account at the top of the planner when signed in, or email us and we'll do it for you.

Age

GradSail is meant for college students and people preparing for college. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you believe someone under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use the data you've already given us, we'll tell you on the site before it takes effect.
